Escolar has not only left his mark on German sport horse breeding. His son Bombastik, who caused a sensation as a six-year-old at the World Championships for Young Dressage Horses, is a Polish sport horse. One that has now won again and again in Aachen.
The now seven-year-old Bombastik was bred in Poland by Gabriela Jaworska out of her Hanoverian mare Bobbi Brown by Benetton Dream. Jaworska had trained Bombastik herself and successfully presented him internationally before he went to the Pawluk family, who are based in Germany, in 2023. Veronica Pawluk has already represented the Polish colors at four European Young Rider Championships. However, she does not currently ride Bombastik herself, but the horse is ridden by Spaniard Fernando Esteban Ruiz, who still rides under the flag of his home country but is also based in the Rhineland and trains with Jan Bemelmans. So he didn’t have far to travel when he set off for the Aachen Dressage Days with Bombastik. The trip was well worth it.
After finishing second in the FEI warm-up test for seven-year-old young dressage horses, the pair secured victory in their second appearance. The judges awarded 86 percent for the gelding’s quality and the pair received a whopping 75.143 percent for the technical fulfillment of the task. This meant a final score of 80.572 percent. They clearly beat the winners of the warm-up test, Julia de Ridder and the KWPN gelding Faridero. They had scored 78.972 percent.
Incidentally, the pair had already finished second and first in Aachen in 2024, back then of course in the six-year-old class. A few months later, they came fourth in the small final at the World Championships for Young Dressage Horses …
