Lana-Pinou Baumgürtel has never been able to beat her older sister Lucie-Anouk in an important decision. At the Preis der Besten in Warendorf, the time has now come – thanks to her Escolar daughter Emma.

Lana-Pinou Baumgürtel and the eleven-year-old Westphalian mare Emma by Escolar have been a dream team for years, winning team gold, individual bronze and freestyle silver at the 2023 European Junior Championships, for example. They have now arrived in the young rider camp, i.e. at advanced (S) level, and are seamlessly building on old times.

They were still unbeaten in 2025 when they competed in the Preis der Besten in Warendorf a few days ago. As it turned out, the toughest competition came from their own family in the form of their older sister Lucie-Anouk with Hugo, another pair who have already won several European Championship medals together.

In fact, the sisters made it exciting. Lana-Pinou Baumgürtel and Emma won the first competition, while her sister and Hugo won the second. However, Lana-Pinou and Emma had delivered such a strong performance in the first test that the result was enough for Lana-Pinou to climb to the top of the podium.

In doing so, the two have emphatically recommended themselves for the U21 European Championships, which will take place this year from July 7 to 13 in Kronberg, Netherlands. The “Preis der Besten” is traditionally the first qualifier for the highlight of the season for young riders.
