Ladykiller xx sends her regards
In addition to Cor de la Bryère and Capitol, it was two stallions in particular that made Holstein show jumper breeding famous far beyond the borders of the land between the seas: the Ladykiller xx sons Lord and Landgraf I. Lyjanero combines the best of these two sire legends in his genes.
Holsteiner L and the Loma strain
Lyjanero's sire Lyjanero was reserve champion at his licensing in 2010, jumped at international level as a youngster and can point to several internationally jumping offspring, for example the CSI3*-successful DSP Lyjin P (Stephanie Böhe/GER). Naturally, Lyjano's main focus is on show jumping. However, he also has offspring with successes at advanced level in dressage.
In addition to Lyjano, six other offspring of Lyjanero were licensed. They keep the Lord line alive, as they can be traced back to this great Ladykiller xx son via Lyjanero's sire Landos. In addition to several five-star show jumpers, Landos himself also produced a Grand Prix dressage horse, The Lion King B, who represented Switzerland at the 2010 World Equestrian Games in Kentucky under Elizabeth Fincke-Koch. He is also the sire of Laura Collett's (GBR) team gold and individual bronze medal winner at the 2024 Olympic Games in eventing, London 52.
With Lyjano, Lyjanero appears in combination with several Dutch stamp stallions. Dam's sire Goodtimes is himself a son of Nimmerdor, who can be considered one of the most influential jumper sires of all. Names such as Heartbreaker, Ahorn, Now or Never and last but not least Goodtimes himself speak volumes. 73 Nimmerdor sons were licensed, almost 40 offspring jumped at 1.60 meter level and several went on to win Grand Prix.
Lyjano's falling pedigree continues with another founder of the Dutch line: Burggraaf, probably the most influential Landgraf I son in the neighboring country, who has made himself immortal with 65 licensed sons and almost one hundred 1.60 jumping horses. Apart from the inbreeding component on Ladykiller xx, Burggraaf also brings Cor de la Bryère into Lyjano's pedigree.
Lyjano's heredity is well secured through the famous, widely branched Dutch Loma line. Three of the ten offspring of Lyjano's dam Wiloma III are international show jumpers and a total of four are successful in dressage, including Holland by Johnson, who is successful at S*** level in the USA. A half-sister of the dam competed up to 1.60 meters. Almost all the mares in Lyjano's pedigree have had at least seven offspring, demonstrating their health and fertility.
Genetically assured versatility
A look at Lyjano's pedigree has already shown that versatility is in his genes. Accordingly, Lyjano impressed us right from the start with his pronounced dual talent. His dressage talent makes everyday training with him just as much a pleasure as jumping in the show jumping ring. Lyjano is rideable, uncomplicated and clear-headed with the right attitude towards sport. All these qualities were confirmed in his stallion examinations. He finished both his sport test I and sport test II with scores above 8. We received confirmation of this youngster's positive development at Lyjano's sport test II, where he scored 8.6 for rideability, ability and canter.
Confirmation in sport
Lyjano's assessment in the breeding tests was also confirmed under competition conditions. As a five-year-old, he recommended himself for the Bundeschampionat, where he is not eligible to compete as a Dutch horse. He also qualified for the World Championships for young show jumpers. This year he celebrated his first successes in medium class show jumping competitions.
Character, talent, age-appropriate performance and proven pedigree meet type beauty in Lyjano. All this, together with his status as the progenitor of the now rarer Holsteiner L-blood - and with 46.29 percent thoroughbred blood - makes Lyjano a real recommendation for sport horse breeders who are thinking about the future.
