All that glitters is gold
His name is Gold Garant NRW, Bundeschampion and sire of 18 licensed sons from the first crop, including three champion stallions, two reserve champions and three premium stallions.
The name says it all
Gold Garant himself became an auction record holder as a foal and was the champion stallion at the NRW licensing two years later. His show career began in 2023 at the age of four. He won a series of victories and top three placings against both ponies and large horses. He became Westphalian Champion and qualified for the Bundeschampionat Final. Under Sophie Luisa Duen, he won both the warm-up test and the final in the Warendorf dressage arena, confidently leaving the previous year's champion in his wake: Bundeschampion. Gold for Gold Garant in the five-year-old dressage ponies 2024.
Last year, he was so popular with breeders that we put his sporting career on the back burner. But he is set to return to the sport in 2026 with Leni-Sophie Gosmann, who is currently leading the world pony rider rankings.
Gold Garant - and then nothing for a long time
Gold Garant was highly favored by breeders right from the start and he did not disappoint them. In his very first crop in 2023, he presented the Champion Stallion and Champion Filly at the German Mare and Foal Championships in Lienen, as well as the Vice Champion Stallion. In 2024, he went one better: winning foals in both divisions, as well as second to fifth place and eighth and ninth place in the fillies and second place again in the stallions, as well as fifth and eighth place. It was a Gold Garant festival. When the ranking of the fillies was announced and the speaker announced the sixth-placed foal, he introduced it with the words: "... and now the first non-Gold Garant foal".
Gold Garant presented his first licensing crop in 2025/26. As could hardly be expected after the foal championships, his sons performed brilliantly wherever they appeared. This first breeding season alone produced 18 licensed stallions, three of which were crowned champion stallions, two reserve champions and three premium stallions.
Gold Garant is already its own brand.
Gold in the blood
This is no coincidence. Gold Garant's sire Golden Grey can be traced back in direct line to multi-champion Golden Dancer, was himself reserve champion at his licensing, won silver twice at the Reitpony Bundeschampionat and most recently came seventh in the final of the six-year-old dressage ponies. To date, he can point to 18 licensed offspring.
On the dam's side, the leading sires of dressage pony breeding worldwide join in. Gold Garant's dam, state premium mare Championata, is sired by FS Champion de Luxe and FS Don't Worry, both sires of numerous championship ponies who have paved the way for generations of young dressage riders to enter the sport. The pedigree is rounded off with Power Boy, a direct son of Downland Folklore, who had a significant influence on both German and Dutch riding pony breeding at the time. Power Boy himself produced FS Pavarottie, who was successful at medium** level and trained to advanced (S) level.
Other highly successful ponies in sport from the dam line of state premium mare Championata include Cipollini and Smoky. The licensed Top Champy, Crash Kid and Be Champion Supreme d'Eté also come from this dam line.
