As part of the Hanoverian Stallion Days, breeders of particularly successful Hanoverian sport horses were honored for the first time. One of the first recipients of the “Madeleine Winter Schulze Prize” is Harald Thelker, breeder of the Para European Championship medal winner Escari by Escolar.
Silke Fütterer-Sommer, the German national coach for para-dressage riders, once said that horses in para-dressage need a high degree of sensitivity as well as good quality gaits. These qualities also characterize Francesca Salvadès Escari, an eight-year-old Rhenish Escolar son who was born in 2017 at Zuchthof Thelker in Ostercappeln-Venne.
After four Paralympics, three World Championships and five European Championships with three horses, it was this Escari that carried Francesca Salvadè, who suffers from spina bifida, to her first championship medal in the summer: Bronze in the Grade III Freestyle at the European Championships in Ermelo. So it’s no wonder that Salvadè calls Escari her “greatest happiness”.
Breeder Harald Thelker laid the foundation for this greatest of luck in 2016 when he decided to breed his Diamond Hit daughter Dynamik to Escolar once again. This combination had already produced a filly named Easy in 2014, who was highly successful in young horse tests before going into breeding. The line is now in its fifth generation in the Thelker family and has produced Rudolf Zeilinger’s Grand Prix horse Rochee as well as other successful Grand Prix and advanced (S) level horses. In 2013, the family of the St.Pr.St. Raffinesse by Rohdiamant-Eisenbarth-Abajo xx with the daughters St.Pr.St. Sympathie by Stedinger and Escaris’ dam Dynamik by Diamond Hit was awarded the title of Reserve Champion Family at the Herwart von der Decken Show.
We congratulate the breeder Harald Thelker and are pleased that his selection of the Gut Neuenhof top sire Escolar was successful.
