The 2025 Westphalia Week kicked off in Münster-Handorf with the first HLP class for four-year-old stallions, which was also a qualifier for the Westphalia Championships. Once again, there was no getting past the defending champion Bentheim from the stallion station Gut Neuenhof.
The now four-year-old Bentheim secured the start of the Westphalia Week 2025 with a while to spare. Danica Duen was in the saddle of the great future hope from the stallion station Gut Neuenhof, who put the Belvedere DB son from the famous de Baey line (breeder: Jürgen de Baey) in the best possible light as usual. The scores speak for themselves: 9.0 in trot, canter, age-appropriate fulfillment of the training scale as well as type and quality of conformation. Together with an 8.5 for walk, this resulted in a final score of 8.9 and thus a victory by 0.5 points.
Unbelievable, but true: this was Bentheim’s sixth victory in eight competitions in his life. He had already left the arena in Münster-Handorf as Westphalian Champion in 2024 and became Bundeschampion a few weeks later. The decision in the 2025 Westphalian Championships will be made on Sunday.
