Escolar recommended himself again in 2022 as the sire of the first hour with the largest contingent of all stallions in Europe (19 qualified or nominated offspring). Impressive was the fact that from 3-year old to 7-year old all age groups were worthily represented. And the judges agreed: “Dressage horses you will hear a lot about in the future”.
Already in the class of 3-year-old stallions it was Elastic by Escolar – Dimaggio bred by Daniela Werheit-Wagemeyer, who advanced to the favourites’ circle with Maxi Kira von Platen after a sovereign round in the entry test. And they did not disappoint, because in the end it was only 0.1 that separated them from the Bundeschampion 2022. With a dream score of 9.0, they danced their way to the title of Vice Bundeschampion of 3-year-old stallions.
Also in the 3-year-old mares and geldings a special Escolar offspring stood out. Especially by Escolar – Lauries Crusador xx bred by Petra and Robert Knott could inspire judges and spectators alike. With a very good 4th place, his entry into the final was also assured. However, the consequences of a moment of shock in the test, a ball kick, caused Lisa Horler as rider and the owner Ursula Grügel to forego a start in the final in order to protect the horse. Certainly not an easy decision, but in any case a decision for the horse.
There was also a nice finish in the 6-year-old dressage horses. Ellis by Escolar – Dimaggio, bred by Walter P.J. Droege, placed second in the small final and made it into the final on the final day. Manuel Dominguez Bernal represented Stefanie Wolf, who did not miss the opportunity to personally cheer on her protégé and placed the full brother of the World Championship participant Espe in 7th place.
We would like to thank all “Escolar” activists for great rounds on the Burandtwiese as well as in the dressage stadium. It was a great pleasure for us to witness and cheer along every single performance.
