Escolar
The CDI3* Grand Prix in Lier was a true dressage marathon with 41 participants. The best of them all was a son of Escolar, who has long since made a name for himself nationally and is now taking off internationally: Escolar’s Emil.
The Rhenish Escolar son Escolar’s Emil has had a truly exemplary training path with his trainer Thomas Wagner – from fifth place in the Nuremberg Burg Pokal 2024 to second place in the Louisdor Prize for Germany’s best young Grand Prix horses to his international premiere last weekend at the CDI3* in Lier. Here he crowned his still young career: victory in the Grand Prix against 40 (!) competitors from all over the world with 70.5 percent and an even better performance in his very first Grand Prix Special, which was rewarded with 71.660 percent and another first place.
Despite all his body substance, Escolar’s Emil, bred by Antonius Schulze-Averdiek, convinces with outstanding elasticity and light-footedness. Like his sire Escolar, he can develop outstanding scope, but can also be led back to the plate when collected. And he does this effortlessly. He is a horse without weaknesses, but with many talents that are just waiting to be further developed over the coming years.
Accordingly, Lier may not have been the last success for this special gelding. But now it’s time to relax. His rider has already shared photos this morning of “Emil” enjoying the morning sun in the paddock at his local Kronenhof.
